Chapter 1051

When Beck spoke up, the cops handed the phone over to Blake without hesitation. Blake knew Beck was just

itching to see her squirm, but she took the phone anyway and dialed her dad's number. She held onto a tiny

hope that he'd find a sliver of fatherly love to bail

them out.

The call connected after just one ring.

"Why is it you!" Her dad's voice was ice-cold and laced with anger. "Blake, | must be cursed to have a daughter

like you. You're on the brink of destroying the overseas company | built. Daughters are nothing but trouble, damn

it! You'd be better off rotting in jail!" With that, he slammed the phone down.

"Dad..." Blake's voice cracked.

Blake hung her head, tears finally streaming down her face. Her dad was even more ruthless than she'd feared.

To him, she and Lydia were just burdens, unwanted and unloved.

Noticing her tears, Beck showed no compassion, twisting the knife further. "Blake, you plagiarized Ms. Flora's

paper. We'll drag this lawsuit out as long as we can. If you end up having to pay, it'll be at least ten million. Can't

cough up that kind of cash? Then it's off to jail for you." Blake knew her dad wouldn't cto her rescue.

Without ten million on hand, prison was her only option.

"Better get comfy; this is just the beginning," Beck sneered, his tone as cold as ice. No way the Haines family

was letting the Neville sisters off the hook that easily. Their troubles were just getting started. Lydia and Blake

clung to each other, sobbing, but no one showed them any sympathy. Kaylee, Howell, and Beck all wore

indifferent expressions.

Once they left the station, Howell drove Kaylee back to school. As soon as they were gone, Beck whipped out his

phone and eagerly called Connor. "Boss, I've cracked another of Ms. Flora's aliases!" ""She's Rose!"

Beck was over the moon! But Connor, on the other end, just gave a nonchalant "Oh" before hanging up.

Still buzzing with excitement and with so much left unsaid, Beck immediately called Moss. As soon as Moss

picked up, Beck shouted, "Moss! You owea month of washing my stinky socks! | won the bet!" "I should've

asked for more. Since you're doing laundry anyway, why not tackle my underwear too?"

Moss: "...Get lost."

The fact that Ms. Flora was actually

Rose was something Moss had

figured out ages ago. It was so obvious, anyone could see it. Even Lydia had caught on. Only Beck was

clueless enough to make a bet on it.

He'd just wanted Beck to have a win, so he bet that Ms. Flora wasn't Rose. Otherwise, Beck wouldn't have stood

a chance. Had he ever won against Moss in all those years?

In the bedroom, Connor set down

the phone. His dark eyes lingered on Flora, who was sprawled out on the bed, engrossed in her phone. Wrapped

in a frog-themed sleeping bag, she looked like a little frog herself from behind.

"Connor, can you handthe charger?" Flora's phone was nearly dead.

Connor strolled over to the desk, picked up the charger, and handed it to her. "Here you go, Rose." Flora: "..."

She looked up, puzzled.

"Why are you callingthat..."

"Because you're amazing," Connor said, massaging her back to prevent any strain. "Rose." Flora: "..."

"I never realized my Flora was so

talented, even being Rose." Connor continued massaging her back,

speaking slowly. "I heard you

e

designed Rafael's clothes. That's

impressive."

Flora was utterly confused. His tone had an odd, sarcastic edge to it. She couldn't quite place it.

Connor figuring out she was Rose didn't shock her; she'd braced herself for that, especially since even Lydia had

noticed. But the sarcasm threw her off.

She looked at Connor, puzzled. He met her gaze, and in that instant, something clicked for Flora.
