Chapter 403: We Are Family
Tina laughed and set Zackary down, then greeted Elsa and Heath. As soon as she sat down, Jennie began to
express her concern. "Tina, has the food at the Reed family not been good? You've gotten so thin," she said, eyes
full of worry, "Mom will order more meat dishes to nourish you properly."
"If it's really not working out, let's go home. Now that your dad's company is doing better and we have a bigger
house, we can live there and not suffer at the Reed family's anymore!" Jennie's eyes reddened as she spoke. If it
hadn't been for their initial penniless state when they arrived in Ashbury, she would never have let Tina endure
hardships with the Reed family.
After such a big incident, how could Tina be doing well at the Reed family's? Now with Jasper missing-though the
Reed family hadn't announced it-the whole business circle knew he was gone. With her biological father not
around, the people at the Reed family definitely wouldn't take Tina seriously. Thinking of this made Jennie feel
bitter. Such a good child, why must she suffer so much?
Elsa quickly handed Jennie a tissue. "Mom, what are you doing? It's a good thing that we're all together as a
family." Jennie sniffled, "It indeed is a good thing. If only you could cback more often, we'd have even more
ttogether." Elsa stuck out her tongue, "Tina, | can't mollify her. You try."
Zackary also cried out, "Mommy's crying! Does she want to eat cake?" Heath ruffled Zackary's hair, "I think
you're the one who wants cake!" "I do not," Zackary claimed, but his expression betrayed him.
This interruption lightened the mood significantly. The family joyously enjoyed a hotpot meal together, and Hugo
was especially happy, accidentally drinking a few glasses too many. This time, Jennie didn't press about marriage
but still hinted to Heath in various ways to take his relationship with Elsa seriously and not let her down. Of
course, these remarks were also meant for Jared.
Jennie didn't dare to nag Jared directly, not out of fear, but because Jared's presence was too imposing. She
always felt that saying the wrong thing could lead him to annihilate the Reed family. Jared protested, "I'm not like
that, | didn't, I'm very gentle!"
After the meal, a tipsy Hugo grabbed Jared and said, "You have to treat our Tina well. If you dare mistreat her, I'll

so plainly otherwise.
Elsa supported Hugo, "Dad, Mr. Farrell won't mistreat Tina, don't worry unnecessarily." Jared didn't mind; Hugo
was just doing what a father should do. He helped Hugo into the car, repeatedly assuring, "Don't worry, Dad, |
won't let Tina down." Hugo and Jennie left with Zackary first. Elsa, feeling a bit embarrassed, glanced at Jared,
"I'm sorry, my dad can say too much when he's drunk." "I didn't mind," Jared replied with a light smile.
Elsa pursed her lips, then looked at Tina, and after a few seconds of thought, said, "Tina, I still have to thank you.
Because of my work, | can't often cback. This tit was Bobby who toldabout my parents’ accident, or
| wouldn't have known. It's all thanks to you."
Elsa looked a bit embarrassed, and the corners of her eyes reddened. Tina's lips curled slightly, "We're family, no
thanks needed." "Right, we are family, and family doesn't keep score," Elsa wiped away her tears, revealing a
smile. Heath wrapped his arms around her shoulders. "You must be your aunt's daughter, always crying like
this."
"Annoying much?" Elsa glared at Heath, her shyness barely concealed.
They chatted idly for a while, and before parting, Elsa said, "I'll be staying in Ashbury for a while, let's go
shopping sometime."
Tina nodded. "Sure, callanytime."
After they split up, Tina's brows were furrowed in thought.
Jared noticed her unusual demeanor and gently ruffled her hair, his voice as soothing as a spring breeze, "What
are you thinking about?"
Tina looked up into his deep eyes and suddenly smiled. "I was just thinking-someone's getting impatient again,
uncle. My enemies are so unintelligent, what should | do?" Jared was speechless. Wasn't it just that you're too
smart?
He wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, his lips close to her ear as he whispered, "Let's see how long
this enemy lasts."
Tina laughed, facing him with her hand on his thin, sexy lips, her tone seductive, "I guess one round!"
"That's no fun!" Jared playfully bit her finger, his voice magnetic, "Give her one round!"
Tina's laughter was radiant, as dazzling as the sunlight, "Then let's give her one round."
Having eaten too much, Jared planned to take a walk with Tina nearby to clear their minds.
They had only walked a bit when they encountered Lysander and his group.
"Tina, what are you doing here?" Lysander exclaimed excitedly upon seeing her.

But when he noticed Jared was with her, his joy immediately faded.
Why won't he just go away?
Jared retorted, "The one who won't go away is you."
"We're just walking around, what about you?" Tina asked.
Timmy moved next to Jared, looking up at him in admiration, "We're just hanging out too. Got tfor a game?"
Aside from Lysander, the rest of the team was starry-eyed at Jared.

It was hard not to admire him.
Jared didn't expect to have so many fans even among Hawk's team, but today he wasn't in the mood for games.
He just wanted to enjoy a nice shopping day with his Tina.
"Next time." Jared smiled, his lips curling naturally as he slipped his arm around Tina's waist.

Tina was chatting with Lysander when Jared's hand beca bit of an obstruction, and she slapped it away, "Let
go."
Seizing the moment, Lysander quickly pulled Tina aside, "Tina, there's a place selling strawberry cake over there,
let's go buy some." Tina's eyes lit up. "Great!"
Jared watched as Lysander led Tina away, his expression darkening.
That Emerson kid really never gives up.
Jared quickly followed, buying all the strawberry cakes and handing the prettiest piece to Tina, "Tina, try this."
Tina took a bite. "Delicious."
Lysander watched their interaction, fists clenched tight, seething with anger.
But what could he do?
Jared raised an eyebrow slightly, pulling Tina along as he occasionally fed her pieces of the strawberry cake, their
ttogether sweet as ever. Lysander ground his teeth, "Tina, | need to talk to you alone about something
important.”
Tina turned around, Lysander rarely described things as important, so it must be.
She lowered her gaze and said, "Get in the car."
